Barbara, the injured loggerhead
In the camp we currently have 3 team’s A, B and C, with a mixture of Canadian’s, Michigian’s (peeps from the Michigian State University), Aussie’s, Irish and the solo UK. Currently Team A and B are taking turns in being camp cook and slave, with many interesting experiments taking part e.g. mixing sugar and beer (Jess), pasta salad (Me), etc. And Team C consisting of troopleader’s Neil and Juliana do everything and nothing.
So far we have a million and a half tracks leading to four exciting egg chambers found. We also have received a turtle injured by a local fisherman named ‘Barbara’, sadly she didn’t make it through the night ☹. Alongside Barbara the turtle we have Peter one of many blind mice, Steve a tiny black kitten and Jackson the sparrow!! These are some of the many creepy crawlies discovered in the camp, along with these we have actual people living here also shockingly enough.
The first group of volunteers eagerly anticipating a dig
Apart from the morning survey and digging the occasional turtle nest there hasn’t been much to do so we have been busy making the camp more homely with hammocks, washing lines, etc. Tonight we have ‘Spag Bol’ and many fun fun fun turtle films from Neil planned, hopefully along with a well-deserved cold beer. Then tomorrow and the rest of the week we are gonna be preparing for some more volunteer arrives at the weekend and for the kiosk to open. Many exciting things we’ll be reporting regularly I’m sure! ☺
