YIA SAS

Hey, here from GVI Greece Turtles, haven’t reported back to you guys watching this space for ages it seems and so much has happened!!!!! Firstly we have the newly built and very wonky kiosk, but it looks pretty in blue with turtle artwork; courtesy of a volunteer a couple of years ago. In the camp it feels like loads of new people have arrived and we have lost some friendly faces! Amongst the new people we finally have a dude (Jose Luis, Espana), which is some relief for Neil who is probably getting sick of the girl talk!!! Sadly our adopted mummy Joanna is leaving, which is going to be a rough time, we’ll have to send her off in style! ☺

JOANNA ON HER WAY TO AFRICA

Vasso (the nameless Greek troop leader who had yet to arrive in the last blog) has also turned up on site that means the PA (Public Awareness) is getting underway. Thus the kiosk is in full swing and we’re starting to raise awareness around the various campsites, which is always good. Soon I think turtle presentations are on the agenda that sound fun but terrifying!! Always exciting fun planned in the camp!!!

THE WONKY KIOSK AND THE ESPANISH DOOD

But back to turtle saving; the main reason we’re all here having a blast in the beautiful surroundings. In Lakonikos bay we had 3 nests today alone adding up to a grand total of 19 nests!! It must have been exciting for the newbie’s to find, dig and grid their first nests!!

We are currently sitting and watching Uruguay in the World Cup Semi-Finals so I guess it seems like you can’t always escape the dreaded game even when in Greece! But each to their own, I’m not one to get between the guys, beer and footie!

Shall report back when I get back from the fun times planned in Crete for the next week, but the time should fly and you’ll hear back from me soon with more entertainment I’m sure!!!
